Royal Yorkshire Regiment Officers Recognised by the Company of the Staple

We are proud to announce that three officers from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment – Captain Bertie Southworth, Captain William Melvin, and Captain Ed Mackeith-Prince – have been recognised by the historic Company of Merchants of the Staple of England.

Each officer was presented with an engraved silver tankard, a framed citation, and a monetary award of £200. Additionally, they were invited to attend the Company’s esteemed Advent Feast later this year as honoured guests.

The Company of the Staple, established by Royal Charter in 1319, is one of England’s oldest mercantile corporations. Historically, it held a monopoly over the export of English wool, significantly influencing the medieval economy. Today, the Company continues to support excellence through various awards, grants, and bursaries, particularly in the wool and textile industries.

We are delighted to see our officers recognised by such a prestigious and historic institution, reflecting their outstanding contributions and the high standards upheld by the Regiment.
