Royal Yorkshire Regiment Donates £10,000 to Army Benevolent Fund

The Royal Yorkshire Regiment is proud to continue its longstanding support for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), the Army’s national charity, with a donation of £10,000.

Following the donation, Major General Tim Hyams CB OBE, Chief Executive of the ABF, wrote personally to Major General Zach Stenning OBE, Colonel of the Regiment, to express his sincere thanks and underline the significant impact such contributions make to the lives of soldiers, veterans, and their families.

Supporting Those Who’ve Served

In 2024 alone, the ABF supported over 75,000 members of the Army family in 51 countries around the world. Of those, 62 serving and former members of our Regiment received direct support, with grants totalling nearly £69,000.

Beyond individual grants, the ABF’s external grants enable vital funding for over 80 specialist charities and organisations across the military welfare sector. In 2024, this amounted to over £3.5 million in funding, helping address needs including:

•Mental health and wellbeing

•Family welfare and bereavement

•Employment and training

•Elderly care and housing

•Independent living

A Shared Commitment

The Army Benevolent Fund, founded in 1944, marked its 80th anniversary last year. As one of the largest funders in the military charity sector, its mission to ensure dignity and independence for soldiers and their families remains as vital as ever.

As a Regiment, we are proud to support this mission, working alongside the ABF to ensure our soldiers—past and present—are never forgotten, especially in their time of need.
