Soldiers from across the Royal Yorkshire Regiment have been acknowledged for their diligent work, exemplary outputs, and the highest levels of professionalism.
Read Pte Moss’s citation for his Merchant Adventurers Award:
‘Pte Moss enlisted into Quebec Company; 4th Battalion The Royal Yorkshire Regiment in November 2014 in Scarborough before joining Helmand Company in York.
Testament to his flexibility Pte Moss has always volunteered to plug gaps wherever they appear and as such has served as a rifleman and machine gunner but most recently has been an indispensable member of the Quartermaster’s and MT Departments and has been key in ensuring the Battalion maintained its key outputs. Pte Moss’s personable nature sees him well-liked and respected by his peers and the Chain of Command. Reliable, honest, and hardworking he is always amongst the first to volunteer for Operational duties.
Pte Moss has just completed a period of mobilised service on Operation INTERFLEX. This was his fifth period of mobilised service since joining the Army Reserve. He has previously spent a two-year period with the Regular Army in Cyprus, completed force protection tasks in Kenya, provided security to the Commonwealth Games and deployed to Oman on Exercise DESERT KHANJAR. Most impressively whilst deployed on Operation INTERFLEX, he successfully completed the Army Leadership Development Programme and a Potential Junior Non-Commissioned Officer’s cadre. Putting in a strong performance, with the course officer recommending promotion at the earliest opportunity, he was praised for his excellent command presence and performance in the field.
Pte Moss is the model Army Reservist – enthusiastic, dependable and with a vast experience at a junior rank; he undoubtedly deserves formal recognition for his efforts.’
